Oloid

Rolling Solids Study of Metal Additive & the ISO Finishing Process

Rolling solids are solids that roll in a straight line with the perfect centre of mass, despite not being a sphere. Oloids were originally designed in 1929 by German sculptor, mathematician and inventor Paul Schatz.

This 3D model is a part of the ongoing study on the rolling solids and other interesting geometrical forms, specifically designed to test and push the possibilities of Metal Additive Manufacturing.

The geometry has been designed in Autodesk Fusion 360. It is watertight and fully Printable. It was originally designed for a laser metal powder bed system.
